A New World: intimate music from FINAL FANTASY
When the folks behind the Anime Frontier convention dropped details last week about their upcoming event, they also promised a "big musical experience" to be announced at a later date.
Turns out that big musical experience is a live performance of the score from the wildly popular video game, "Final Fantasy."
"A New World: intimate music from FINAL FANTASY" will close out Anime Frontier with a performance scheduled for Dec. 5 at the Fort Worth Convention Center — with no additional ticket required for convention-goers to watch the show.
The "Final Fantasy" franchise, which has become one of the world's leading role-playing games since its debut in 1987, has sold over 144 million units, grossing over $11.7 billion. Its score, penned by composer Nobuo Uematsu, has become equally popular, having been performed everywhere from Royal Albert Hall to the Sydney Opera House — and Fort Worth's own Bass Performance Hall.
Conductor and music director Eric Roth will lead the ensemble performing at Anime Frontier. The show comes to Fort Worth through partnerships with Crunchyroll, the world's largest and most popular anime streaming brand, which also serves as Anime Frontier's title sponsor; Funimation, the Flower Mound-based animation company that brings Japanese shows to the U.S.; and SQUARE ENIX, creator of the "Final Fantasy" franchise.
“Anime Frontier’s goal is to bring the Japanese pop culture world to Texas,” Anime Frontier show director Peter Tatara said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to culminate our first event with this official 'Final Fantasy' concert. 'A New World: intimate music from FINAL FANTASY' is exactly the kind of high quality, professional experience we look to share with fans of anime, video games, and music.”
Anime Frontier is scheduled for Dec. 3 – 5. More information is available at animefrontier.com.
