Our very own Elvis Presley look-alike crooner won the ultimate prize in Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition in Memphis, Tennessee.
For his first prize, Fort Worth native Victor Trevino Jr. won just short of $20,000, recognition from Elvis Presley Enterprises, and a contract to perform with the company. The competition’s criteria included vocals, style, stage presence, and overall performance.
“You have your family or your friends out there that are rooting for you,” Trevino shares with Fort Worth Report. “When they call your name, it’s like when you finally get that really good news you’re hoping for."
“It’s not the name Victor Trevino that’s going to put butts in the seats. It’s Elvis. I definitely give respect to Elvis and credit to him for that.”
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition has been a thing since 2007, the only competition of its kind that Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland sponsor.
In 2007, Trevino began performing as an Elvis impersonator, taking up a suggestion that he do so. He moved to Las Vegas for a while, but in 2015, he returned to Fort Worth after some opportunities ran dry. He was also continuously falling short of winning tribute competitions.
“Always a bridesmaid but never the bride,” he says, again to the Fort Worth Report.
More recently, Trevino rebranded his his look to more resemble the Elvis of the acclaimed film released this summer.

According to his website, his upcoming project "The Texas Trouble" gives a nod to his Fort Worth roots as it includes a high-energy rockabilly, honky tonk, and blues band.
His next Texas show is Oct. 22 in Grapevine.
