If record low temperatures, dangerous driving conditions, and widespread power outages weren’t enough, business owners and residents across the city are now dealing with water damage during this historic winter storm.
On Wednesday, sections of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History — the Museum School, the Academy of Digital Learning Laboratory, the Museum Store, parts of the DinoLabs, and offices — were flooded from bursting pipes and sprinklers.
Luckily, no collection items were harmed by the water.

Members of the museum staff were on site and able to respond quickly, but no students were in the building at the time.
“Our museum experienced this once-in-a-generation event with significant flooding,” said Dr. Doug Roberts, chief public engagement officer at the museum. “The staff in the building jumped into action to stop the water and save equipment from damage, but it is going to take a long time to clean up.”
The museum staff has not yet determined the extent of the damage but are working to salvage what they can and resume educational programs.
If you are able to help, the museum is accepting donations here.
