Summer Dean, Ronnie Heart, Nice Major, and Jakob Robertson are the latest to join Amplify 817's music catalog.
Their music went live Monday on the Fort Worth Public Library's music streaming service, which features exclusively Fort Worth artists. They join four other artists — Jack Barksdale, Lou CharLe$, Rachel Gollay, and Taylor Pace — who already have music on the platform.
“We are thrilled to add four more unique artists to Amplify 817,” library director Manya Shorr said in a statement. “All eight musicians bring a lot of talent and are already creating a diverse collection of Fort Worth music."
Visit Fort Worth and its music arm, Hear Fort Worth, sponsored the latest additions to Amplify 817. Each song was recorded at the Near Southside music studio Niles City Sound, where Leon Bridges made his first two albums.
According to Visit Fort Worth creative director Tom Martens, music has a historical economic impact of $742 million per year and supports 7,311 jobs.
“Local music adds to the culture and vitality of our city," Martens said. "We want to cultivate more of that."
Amplify 817 is looking to feature more musicians, calling for four to five "music experts" to serve on a jury that will review submissions from local artists who want to be included in the program. Those interested in participating can find more info on Amplify 817's website.
