Holy Cow! What a whirl wind last week was. Container Store craziness was coming out the yin yang! Most of Tuesday and all of Wednesday was spent working on the blog...researching, emailing, phone calls, press releases, up loading photos, Word drafts, layouts and formatting...all about The Container Store & Lena Pope. Wednesday morning the blog went LIVE, and boy did it ever. After TCS's super awesome PR chick, Nina, got a hold of my post, it went viral through their company and was shared on FB almost 700 times. I love it when SoFortWorthIt is shared on FB. It's like getting a big hug and being told "I LOVE YOU!". And I really felt the love.
Thursday was GAME DAY! The Container Store asked me to attend a special luncheon just for bloggers at their new store. When I wasn't jotting down notes and tuning in about all the cool new products, I was posting live pictures from inside the new store on Facebook. In case you missed it, here are some fun things that caught my eye.
Thursday evening was their very big, over the top Private Preview Party. A little birdie told me at the luncheon they were expecting nearly 2000 people for the event and 80 valet parkers would be handling the cars. There was NO WAY I was going to get stuck in that cluster fartbomb, so we decided to find a spot on our own. And luckily we did. I felt bad for all the uninformed grocery shoppers who didn't get the memo to avoid Central Market that night. We drove past several disgruntled looking folks with grocery sacks walking to their cars parked in the neighborhood streets near by.
When we walked through the doors, I was impressed with the turnout! The store was filled with company veeps, vendors and plenty of familiar faces enjoying perfectly chilled champagne and lavish hors d'oeuvres from Food Glorious Food Catering, all of which were served out of The Container Store’s products...and the dance floor was packed with people boogying to the music of Motion. The flowers prepared by fête des fleur were beautiful, and every corner I turned there was another gorgeous grouping of arrangements, staggered through out the shelves and displays!
Guess who was 1st in line on Grand Opening Saturday? Debbie B., The Container Store's Fort Worth Super Fan who received her own crown, sash and gold shopping cart (filled with a goodie box of product and a gift card) decorated with Super Fan flags and signs. Debbie submitted the winning entry for The Container Store’s Fort Worth Super Fan contest that asked why she considered herself worthy of Super Fan status. The weekend continued with thousands of customers filling the store to be amongst the first to shop on Grand Opening Weekend.
If you haven't heard already, part of the retailer's commitment to its local communities, The Container Store took great pride in donating 10% of its Grand Opening Weekend sales to the Lena Pope Home, to further its mission to create hope, happiness and success for children and families through counseling and educational services.
Want to know how much TCS is donating to Lena Pope? A big fat NINETEEN-THOUSAND DOLLAR check!!!! Talk about crazyamazingawesome! None of this could have been possible without these head honchos at The Container Store. (From left to right: Todd Landry - Executive Director and Marilyn Sammons - Director of Development and Marketing of Lena Pope Home, Melissa Reiff - President & COO, Sharon Tindell - Chief Merchandising Officer and Kip Tindell - Chairman and CEO of The Container Store.)
