The 119th Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo has come and gone. Once again this Western extravaganza has provided me with a wealth of subject matter to paint. Since moving to Fort Worth a few years ago, I have made sure to get my Souvenir Pin for the Stock Show, allowing me to enter the grounds for the entire three-week event. I’ve met many interesting people and have had numerous memorable animal encounters. Here are a few of my paintings inspired by this legendary show.
I was amused by this wide-eyed calf, staying close to mom on his first trip to the big show.
The owner of this Brahma was kind enough to pose her for me in the early morning sun.
Saddle bronc riding is a classic event at the rodeo, and the action it provides offers some great painting subjects.
Of course one sees lots of cowboys at the event. Here's a local cowboy Ronnie Grayson, Lieutenant of Arena Security at the Stock Show.
I observed these two young cowboys outside one of the cattle barns as they shared some good Stock Show fun together.
