Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo will reopen May 29, the day Governor Greg Abbott announced zoos may reopen to visitors.
“We’re excited to welcome families back to the zoo, to give them the opportunity to get outside and reconnect with wildlife,” Michael Fouraker, the zoo’s executive director, said in a statement. “We have made a number of changes and improvements that will allow us to make a safe start on this new season.”
Of course, the reopening is not without safety protocols. To control the number of visitors in the park, the zoo is implementing a temporary reservation system and requiring all guests to reserve tickets online prior to visiting. Guests may begin making reservations on May 26, selecting a designated day and time for arrival.
Other health and safety measures include:
- Temporary closure of indoor exhibits
- Restaurant and merchandise locations operating at 25 percent capacity
- Increased hand washing stations throughout the park
- Increased cleaning of hard and frequently touched surfaces by a designated “Clean Team”
- Increased signage reminding guests of the importance of hand washing, wearing of masks, and social distancing
The zoo will also have extended hours in the summer (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays). More information on reopening procedures can be found on the zoo's website.
