"One of a Kind"
Tune in to find out if some of the Fort Worth homes Mitchell features on this season of “One of a Kind” are owned by your friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
The first season of HGTV’s “One of a Kind,” featuring the magical home design makeovers by local designer Grace Mitchell, was a smash hit.
The show’s second season kicks off at 9:30 p.m. central time Monday. Tune in to find out if some of the Fort Worth homes Mitchell features on this season of “One of a Kind” are owned by your friends, neighbors, and co-workers ― I already know of two families that will be featured this season, but I’m not telling.
When I say season one last March was a smash hit, I mean it was a ratings bonanza, attracting more than 4.5 million viewers. The fledgling home design series ranked as a top five primetime program on HGTV, and became a top five cable program among the channel’s coveted upscale 25- to 54-year-old market. That’s one heck of a good start.
Grace Mitchell, who began with her blog, “A Storied Style,” goes beyond most home designers. She uses more than trendy techniques and of-the-moment fixtures and finishings. Mitchell incorporates the family’s personal stories to transform their homes.
One episode from last season found her turning a couple’s love notes into wallpaper. In another, she created a glittering ceiling to match a wedding night's sky. Mitchell’s designs are beyond personalized — they are one-of-a-kind inspirations.
