John Cusack
John Cusack in 'Say Anything'
For you Gen Xers and lovers of 80s teen comedies, a night with the eternally boyish John Cusack might be high on your bucket list. And you’ll get a chance to check that box when he visits Fort Worth (and Dallas) to host two screenings of his early flicks.
The Grosse Pointe Blank-High Fidelity-Being John Malkovich-insert-great-movie star will first visit Will Rogers Auditorium, where he’ll screen the John Hughes comedy "Sixteen Candles" on Friday — this Friday, June 23. The actor will follow this up with a visit to Music Hall at Fair Park, where he’ll screen the iconic Cameron Crowe-helmed film "Say Anything" on Saturday, June 24. And, for those whose John Cusack fandom teeters on groupie territory, he’ll be heading to Houston the following day for a screen of his 2000 film, "High Fidelity."
Each film will be followed by a conversation with the actor about his career and making of the film, as well as a Q&A.
Never desperate for work, the actor has remained busy over his illustrious 40-year career. Some of his most notable roles, in addition to those he’s screening, include "Bullets Over Broadway," "Con Air," "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," "The Thin Red Line," "Serendipity," "Hot Tub Time Machine," and as Richard Nixon in "The Butler." He received a SAG nomination for Being John Malkovich. Cusack co-wrote and produced High Fidelity in 2000 and was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In recent years, Cusack has been known for his outspoken political views, often expressed in blogs he wrote for The Huffington Post from 2005 to 2009.
