Popular Near Southside music venue The Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge will close at the end of April, according to entertainment director Brooks Kendall Jr.
The venue, located at 1311 Lipscomb St., opened in 2012 and has hosted acts like Leon Bridges and Luke Wade. The last show will be Brandy Clark and Charlie Worsham, set for April 29.
Kendall cited rent increases as the reason for closing, due in part to the new businesses moving into the growing area.
He said he plans to open a new Live Oak location near the University of Texas at Arlington, which will feature additional seating, a larger kitchen and more menu items. According to Kendall, the Arlington location will open in the fall, but no exact date has been set.
