With Stockyards Heritage Development Co. (SHDC) now managing Cowtown Coliseum, the developers behind Mule Alley have announced a slate of events taking place at the venue through the end of the year.
The lineup includes the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Ranch Rodeo hosted by Red Steagall, set for Oct. 23 – 24, and the American Paint Horse Association's Cowgirl Gathering, set for Nov. 13 – 15.
The schedule also features programming that will coincide with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, which will take place at Arlington's Globe Life Field Dec. 3 – 12. During that week, the Cowtown Coliseum will host the Junior World Finals daily and the World's Largest NFR Watch Parties nightly. The Coliseum will also host the NFR Buckle Ceremony at 11 p.m. nightly, televised on The Cowboy Channel.
The venue will also continue hosting the Stockyards Championship Rodeo, with seating limited to 75% due to COVID-19.
“We couldn’t be happier to be part of the history of the Cowtown Coliseum, and we were so excited to hear that the NFR was moving to our city," Majestic Realty executive vice president and SHDC managing partner Craig Cavileer said in a statement. "This is a truly unique opportunity to showcase both the historic Stockyards and the City of Fort Worth on a national and international stage. The NFR and its events are the perfect addition to our legacy as the gateway to Western arts, culture, and sports.”
SHDC was named exclusive managing partner of the Cowtown Coliseum on July 16 in a long-term agreement with the City of Fort Worth. As the new manager, SHDC also hired Clayton Cullen, former senior vice president of production for the Professional Bull Riders, to be the Coliseum's new chief operating officer.
“I consider it a distinct honor and a privilege to be involved in such a magnificent and storied part of, not only Texas but American history," Cullen said in a statement. "I look forward, with great excitement, to what the future holds for the Coliseum in particular and the Stockyards, as a whole."
