Those looking to see a Broadway-style musical at Casa Mañana will have to wait until at least the end of the summer.
The theater announced it will postpone its Broadway and Children's Theatre performances through the end of July. According to a statement from Casa Mañana, "While the distribution of the [COVID-19] vaccine is promising, we believe we will remain under the safety restrictions of Actors’ Equity Association, the State of Texas, and the CDC through the spring and into summer ... We want our patrons (and you) to experience the full, Broadway-style musicals that they have come to expect and enjoy, and such productions require large casts and crews. We are confident that we can open the season in August."
Reid Cabaret Theatre performances on the Mainstage, however, will continue through the spring and summer, with COVID-19 protocols like socially distanced seating enforced. Performances will also not include an intermission.
The next Reid Cabaret Theatre performance will be "Bennett & Babs: The Music of Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand," scheduled for Feb. 9 – 14.
The theater plans to announce more small shows throughout the spring and summer.
