A group exhibition featuring the work of nine accomplished artists who have all created different works based on the profound impact of “place” on their lives, will open at J. Peeler Howell Fine Art at 3521 Locke Avenue on November 11 at 4 p.m.
This exhibition challenges viewers to reflect on the multifaceted nature of human existence, inviting them to peer beyond the surface of each subject, revealing rich, hidden narratives that transcend first impressions.
One of the artists who will be showcasing their work, is none other than Artly International’s Open Call winner, Brenda Ciardiello. Originally from Mexico, Ciardiello immigrated with her parents to the U.S. when she was a child. Since then, Ciardiello continued to travel and study abroad including the U.K., Italy, New York City, and the Middle East. Ciardiello pulled from these experiences to create her work, which revolve around feelings of displacement and transplantation while traveling.
Featured artists in the exhibition employ a wide range of artistic media, from painting and sculpture to photography and mixed media, each with a unique interpretation of "Sonder."
The other featured artists at this exhibition are Michelle Benoit, Collin Howell, Lars Jerlach, Tom Judd, Tom Motley, Fred Poisson, Tony Saladino, and Laurie Skantzos.
Their works serve as a testament to the human condition, exploring themes of identity, solitude, connection, and empathy. These works challenge us to embrace the complexities of the human experience and reminds us that every individual is a repository of stories, emotions, and depth waiting to be uncovered.
