At the invitation of the Texas Ballet Theater, I was privileged to attend a dress rehearsal at Bass Hall for George Balanchine’s classical ballet, “Theme and Variations.” Until I witnessed a rehearsal, I had no idea just how hard these dancers worked. In this painting, I focused on dancer Allisyn Hsieh as she concentrated on her routine before the rehearsal began.

After its completion, I took the painting to the Texas Ballet Theater Studios to show it to my lovely subjects. Here they are posing with the finished work. Thank you (in the order they appear in the painting) Lainey Logan, Allisyn Hsieh, Jaclyn Gill and Michelle LeBoeuf!
Here is a short time-lapse video of the painting from start to finish.
