The Lone Star Film Festival doesn't start until about a month, but Fort Worth is already feeling the film buzz.
The Texas Motion Picture Alliance, a nonprofit media advocacy group based in Austin, announced the recipients of its first annual Impact Awards honoring the work of Texas filmmakers. Among them? Red Sanders, president of Fort Worth-based Red Productions, and Dallas-Fort Worth filmmaker David Lowery, director of Disney’s Pete's Dragon.
The award presentation will take place Oct. 23 at the Live Oak Music Hall and Lounge in Fort Worth.
Along with Sanders and Lowery, other award recipients include:
- Angelo Pizzo, director of My All-American
- Chris Zylka, actor in The Leftovers
- Jesse Fawcett and Chris Hilton, executive producers of Texas Flip and Move
- André Thomas, CEO of Triseum
- Phil Schriber, CEO of Film Fleet
- Byron Fitts, CEO of The Department
