2021 marks a milestone year for Six Flags Over Texas — the iconic Arlington theme park is turning 60, and to celebrate, a new event will launch this weekend featuring live entertainment and fireworks to boot.
Six Flags Over Texas is kicking off 60th anniversary celebrations with the Fire & Ice Winter Festival, starting Saturday and running every weekend through Feb. 28, as well as Jan. 18 and Feb. 15.
The festival features a slew of live entertainment, including Ice Carving by Reverend Butter; an extended run of popular holiday attraction, The Frosty Snowhill; an event-specific marketplace; an evening light show; and more. On Saturdays, Six Flags will launch fireworks from the park's 300-foot Oil Derrick tower. The park will also serve fire-and-ice-inspired cocktails, frozen treats, and savory snacks.
And, as a nod to the park's first opening day on Aug. 5, 1961, one-day admission tickets are $19.61 for the duration of the festival.
“We are thrilled to begin our 60th anniversary season at Six Flags Over Texas with a winter festival for guests to enjoy,” Six Flags Over Texas park president Ron McKenzie said in a statement. “Now, more than ever, families and friends are looking for opportunities to create special memories together, and this event offers a fun, thrilling, and safe experience for guests of all ages.”
