There's No Place Like Home in The River District
Abby Slayton-Tobin's furniture shop has seen it share of home décor trends — more than two decades of them, actually. After spending 10 years on Camp Bowie Boulevard and 11 years at its current location on Foch Street, There's No Place Like Home is looking toward the future with a second location in a new neighborhood.
There's No Place Like Home 2 — appropriately marked with an exterior sign throwing up two fingers — will soft-open Dec. 18 at 4854 White Settlement Road, Ste. A, part of the ever-growing River District neighborhood in West Fort Worth. At about 1,800 square feet, the store is smaller than its Foch Street sister but will still carry 800 lines of home décor and have designers on staff that can visit patron's homes and work their magic.
Slayton-Tobin says she had initially planned on opening There's No Place Like Home 2 about a year ago, but trouble with a contractor resulted in delays that led to her husband, Bill, taking over the finish-out. "He's a genius," she says.
There's No Place Like Home has built a reputation for offering a variety of styles at lower prices than most retailers, launched after Slayton-Tobin discovered that many furniture stores charge 300 – 700% over the wholesale price. Slayton-Tobin says her shop offers many of the same products for almost half the price, with a comprehensive selection that includes living room, bedroom, dining, office, and outdoor décor ranging in styles from rustic to midcentury.
Soft opening hours for The River District location will be 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., and normal operating hours will be 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
