Texas Ballet Theater will open its 2021 – 2022 season with "The Nutcracker."
Texas Ballet Theater's (TBT) signature holiday production is back — and in person — at the places it calls home.
TBT has announced it will return to its resident performance venues for the 2021 – 2022 season (that is, Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and Winspear Opera House in Dallas), kicking off with the return of "The Nutcracker."
Choreographed by TBT artistic director Ben Stevenson, "The Nutcracker" will run first in Dallas from Nov. 26 – Dec. 5, then Fort Worth's Bass Hall from Dec. 10 – 26. And, per tradition, TBT is also bringing back its one-night-only parody performance, "The Nutty Nutcracker," scheduled for Dec. 17 at Bass Hall.
After "The Nutcracker," TBT's next performance at Bass Hall is "A Tchaikovsky Evening," which will feature a mixed repertoire that includes George Balanchine’s "Serenade" and two world premieres ("Star Crossed" by Stevenson and "Violin Concerto in D" by TBT associate artistic director Tim O’Keefe). That performance is scheduled for Feb. 18 – 20.
Then, TBT will close its season with the world premiere of Stevenson's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" from May 20 – 22 at Bass Hall.
“With a return to the stage and three world premieres, this may be Texas Ballet Theater’s most thrilling season yet,” Stevenson said in a statement. “Our dancers are looking forward to performing again, and we can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new friends into the audience.”
