Great news, Fort Worth, there’s a new spot opening soon that will allow you to enjoy a lazy Sunday backyard get-together any day of the week. How, you may ask? Well, the answer to this question can be found at 3101 Prairie Vista Drive in the northern part of Fort Worth. This two-acre lot is in the process of transforming into the newest come-as-you-are backyard hangout spot named the Truck Yard on January 16.
If you’ve heard the name Truck Yard before it’s because there are already three of these hangout spots spread across the state. But what makes this new spot stand out among its predecessors is its size. This new location will be host to this concept’s first-ever 7,500-square-foot West Texas Pole Barn. The barn will serve as an indoor honkey-tonk that will offer dining and live music. The indoor-outdoor space includes a vintage Airstream mobile stage, hand-painted murals, and dedicated areas for yard games. Oh yeah — and fur babies are welcome. That's dogs in layman’s terms.
The barn and outdoor space have been designed to be familiar and replicate the backyard furniture and motif of cookouts gone by. Plus, this space offers something most of us never had at our family get-togethers, a Ferris wheel.
“When building Truck Yard, the goal was to have a place that feels like you’re enjoying a lazy afternoon with friends in your backyard. That is, if your backyard is a badass adult playground with a Ferris wheel and live music,” says Jason Boso, owner of Brain Storm Shelter, Truck Yard’s parent company. “We love the tight-knit community feel of Alliance and invite everyone, and their mother and dogs, to share a cold one with us.”
A rotating line-up of local food trucks will take the place of your slightly toasted relative at the grill. Speaking of being slightly toasted, drinkers can enjoy craft draft cocktails, frozen favorites, and everything from the top shelf of the liquor cabinet. Wine will also be available along with local beer including drafts from the company’s own brewery, Second Rodeo Brewing.
The newest change that regulars will get to experience is Truck Yard’s adoption of some fancy shmancy technology. “If you are as lazy as me, then you can now order at any table from your phone, and we will bring the drinks to you. No more waiting in line,” Boso says. This new convenience will also be accompanied by large patio heaters and fire pits for a climate-friendly, comfortable experience.
“The Alliance community has been awesome to us. If the number of inquiries about our opening are any indication of their excitement, we’re in for a great ride!” he says.
