Birria taco at Birrieria Y Taqueria Cortez
Birrieria Y Taqueria Cortez is bringing its signature birria tacos to its first indoor location at 2108 E. Rosedale St., the former Los Taco H's.
Located down the street from its first food truck location, the restaurant will serve guests from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, offering both indoor and patio seating.
While it does not have an exact opening date, owner Rogelio Cortez says customers can expect the restaurant to open and satisfy their taco cravings within the next few weeks.
“Our main priority is great customer service,” Cortez says. “Once you come here, you’re going to feel at home.”
The first location opened in February 2020 when Cortez got a trailer to sell tacos that were popular among his friends and family. It's since received a ton of hype for its birria tacos — grilled tacos dipped in a soup known as "consommé" — drawing long lines of customers anxious for a bite.
The brick-and-mortar location has been in the works for a couple of months, and Cortez says he's looking forward to seeing the plan come to fruition.
“We’ve been nervous [and] pretty scared [because] we’re all new to it,” he says. “But we’re mostly excited. We’re learning as we go.”
While awaiting the third location’s opening, patrons can grab a bite at the current locations on 2220 E. Rosedale St. and 3108 N. Main St.
