South Main's craving for fried sugar bread is finally getting fulfilled this weekend.
The anticipated brick-and-mortar of Dusty Biscuit Beignets is opening softly this Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., serving a small menu of six core offerings at its 500-square-foot space at 411 S. Main St. The shop will then be open Tuesdays through Sundays starting next week, with specials introduced that weekend, according to owner Trey Smith.
The six items folks can expect on the core menu: the French Quarter (classic, powdered sugar-dusted beignets), Bourbon Street (topped with bourbon-maple glaze, candied bacon, and pecans), Cowtown King Cake beignets (a tri-colored, Mardi Gras-themed offering), Everything beignet (topped with everything bagel seasoning), biscuit and sausage sliders, and the Dusty Cristo sliders (Smith's take on a Monte Cristo sandwich).
New drinks will be on the menu as well, including a frozen cafe au lait. Smith says he's still working on specials for this month, but at least one new offering people can look forward to is Bayou Bacon Tots, made with boil seasoning, sweet and spicy Creole remoulade, chopped bacon, and sliced green onions.
"Expect pumpkin spice beignets and pepperoni pizza sliders to make an appearance," Smith says.
Dusty Biscuit has been on a steady, seemingly nonstop growth track since its early days as a pop-up at local coffee shops and breweries. The pop-up eventually gave rise to an Airstream trailer location at the corner of South Main Street and East Vickery Boulevard, which eventually gave rise to the brick-and-mortar just down the street. Dusty Biscuit also has a stand at TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium, serving beignets during football games.
Further updates on Dusty Biscuit's brick-and-mortar will be available on Instagram.
