El Chingon's new menu items are sure to help satiate any sweet or savory cravings you may have.
Since December of 2020, El Chingon’s Fort Worth locale has struck a fine balance between being a day-time family-oriented hangout, and a nighttime club-style spot equipped with its own DJ and smoke machines.
Between these two vibes connecting both easy-going and party crowd attendees has always been El Chingon’s menu, filled with traditional Mexican recipes made with elevated ingredients. This authentic cuisine paired with a cold drink from the restaurant’s expansive beverage menu only adds to the culinary experience at El Chingon, an experience that’s been well curated.
In the vein of pushing the boundaries on food service and holiday tradition, El Chingon is upping the ante this Halloween by hosting an eating contest made for those who like searing hot flavors. El Chingon’s first-ever “Boo-rito” eating contest is taking place on Sunday Oct. 27 at 4:30 p.m. Contestants will have a chance to devour a massive five-pound ghost pepper burrito in a 30-minute time frame. The first three to finish will receive the ultimate VIP experience, $150 worth of gift cards, and of course – bragging rights. Participants in this event will need to fill out a waiver, other than that the contest entry is free.

Contestants could also order one of three new spooky sips El Chingon created in honor of Halloween to help cool the heat from the “Boo-rito” down with. The first of this trio of beverages is Vampire’s Blood made with vodka, blueberry cordial, lime juice, and Sprite. The second spooky cocktail on the menu is the Candy Corn, which is made with a combination of coconut rum, peach, orange juice, and grenadine. And last, but certainly not least, is the Witches Brew, made with a mixture of tequila, sour apple, and pineapple. Each of these drinks comes in at $12 a piece, or $20 if you kick it up a notch to the elevated “Bad Ass” version.
Other new menu items that aren’t of a seasonal nature offered at El Chingon include a variety of chicken wings. That’s right y’all, you can now get an order of chicken wings at a spot that touts its Mexican heritage by name. The name El Chingon itself translates to something “Bad Ass,” and chicken wings definitely fall into that category.
“The wings are a new item on the menu we added back in August, and it was a lot of trial and error from tasting, from texture, from where we're getting the wings from,” says Alex Pelayo, El Chingon’s promotions guru who is also the house DJ. “Our chefs were able to come up with the perfect flavors of buffalo, garlic, and parmesan wings. We have the spicier ones, but everybody in this venue has tried the wings and they work well here. We waited until everybody tried them and agreed. We all voted as a team together and that’s how we came up with the wings menu.”
Guests can order these newly crafted wings in an eight, 12, or 24 count, with a side of either regularly salted fries, or bump up to the Cajun fries with a bit more spice.
And if you decide to swing by El Chingon next week on Thursday Oct. 31, to try any of the new items just mentioned, make sure you’re dressed for the occasion. Starting at 10 p.m. on this date, El Chingon is hosting a costume contest with a cash prize of $500. Costumes will be judged in couples, groups, and single categories, with the overall winner taking home the cash. Other prizes include complimentary beer, paletas, or a green tea tower or bottle.
For those of you who like to party every once in while given you have a busy schedule, El Chingon also offers a private Salsa music area, like a speakeasy, that runs in the hidden courtyard behind the restaurant named El Chingona. Every other Sunday, live Salsa players get down during El Chingon’s Salsa on the gardens event.
“It's a Latin room, which is the first one, and I think we're opening one in Dallas beginning next year,” Pelayo says. “You don’t have to know how to dance Salsa, just come in and give it a try, it's fun and lively.”
