The man behind Fixture - Kitchen and Social Lounge is bringing Texas Wesleyan University students a new off-campus dining option next spring.
Chef Ben Merritt has selected 3016 East Rosedale St., across the street from Texas Wesleyan, as the location for his new restaurant, Ben's Triple B: Biscuits, Burgers and Brews.
The 3,400 square-foot space will have a casual and fun atmosphere with TVs and will include a full bar. It will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the menu will include, well, biscuits and burgers — hence the name. The university will also pave two new parking lots to better serve restaurant and retail center patrons.
“Ben's new restaurant is exactly what we have envisioned for this space,” Texas Wesleyan President Frederick G. Slabach said in a press release. “Our campus life is thriving, and this is going to be ‘the' place to eat and socialize for students, faculty and staff.”
Merritt has built a reputation in Fort Worth as owner and chef of Fixture - Kitchen and Social Lounge on West Magnolia Avenue. He won the title of Top Chef in 2016 and Top Chef Master in 2017 by Fort Worth Magazine.
The restaurant is just the latest gain for the Rosedale Renaissance, an effort by both TWU and the City of Fort Worth to restore the historic Polytechnic Heights neighborhood and East Fort Worth. It is set to open in late spring 2018.
“The University and the City of Fort Worth have welcomed me with open arms, and I can't wait to serve my food from Ben's Triple B to the students and faculty, and this growing revitalized community,” Merritt said in a press release. “I've been working on a second concept for some time now, and the opportunity to be a part of the Rosedale Renaissance Project was a perfect fit.”
