Fort Worth, TX - Chef Ben Merritt will officially open Fixture - Kitchen and Social Lounge, a new restaurant in the heart of the Near Southside, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Sure to become a “fixture” in a neighborhood known for it’s relaxed ambiance, Chef Merritt has created an eclectic, fresh twist on comfort food. Fixture boasts home grown herbs and citrus trees that brighten up the generous outdoor patio seating area. Inside the space that formerly housed 24 Plates, diners can enjoy a large community table in the bar area made from live edge wood from a Magnolia tree. The restaurant will also feature the art of Erika Krivda (www.literallyerika.com).
Chef Merritt creates a fresh culinary experience for diners, where each menu includes small share plates, salads, handhelds and fork and knife options. The lunch menu offers choices such as the PB & J with whiskey-braised pork belly and jalapeño jelly, Brie and Cranberry Nachos, Duck Tacos, a Fried Bologna Club and the ever popular Chicken and Waffles. For dinner, diners can look forward to Smoked Salmon Tomato Skins, Mush-room Spaetzle, Texas Cheesesteak with sliced ribeye and Havarti cheese, and Smoked Pork Tenderloin with jalapeño sweet corn and beet BBQ sauce. Vegan options include the Farro Salad, Texas Beet Fries, Bayou Beans, House Salad and Tofu Salad, and many menu items are gluten-free. Fixture also opens on Sunday with a delightful brunch menu, that's served on both Saturday and Sunday, and includes the Brunch Burger with a fried egg and Bloody Mary ketchup on a Pearl Snap Kolache bun, Masa Pancakes with Duck Confit and Cranberry Mostarda, Roasted Goat Hash, and the must-have French Toast Casserole with banana, cinnamon and vanilla. Coupled with a full bar serving craft cock-tails, boutique wines, carafes of Moonshine Lemonade and Agua Fresca, and North Texas craft beers, diners are ensured a culinary adventure.
Chef Merritt is the former executive chef of Tim Love's Woodshed. He also worked alongside well-known Dallas chef Stephan Pyles. Ben is an American Culinary Federation Certified Culinarian, with a strong belief that in order to live a healthy lifestyle, one must eat food the Earth created and avoid lab-engineered and processed foods.
