Gourmet doughnut shops have been making moves in Fort Worth as of late. Here, a look at four doughnut shops to keep your eye on.
FunkyTown Donuts
This popular doughnut shop, known to top a doughnut with everything from cotton candy to Heim's Bacon Burnt Ends, will open a second location downtown at 132 E. 4th St. this spring or summer. Expect later hours and also booze — doughnuts and beer might just be the new tacos and tequila.
Kneady Doughnuts
Just east of the Riverside Arts District's new coffee shop, Roasted, Kneady Doughnuts had its soft opening in March at 2919 Race St. Here, flavors will rotate in-and-out, and all of the doughnuts will be on the sweet side (though some savory options may be on the way soon). The doughnuts will be made fresh daily — raised doughnuts from yeast and cake doughnuts from baking powder.
The Dapper Doughnut

This shop, known for its fresh and fried miniature doughnuts, is becoming a franchise all over the United States. Its next stop: Fort Worth — specifically, Crockett Row. This shop at the forthcoming Food Hall will include two pass-through windows on Crockett Street for customers who want to get doughnuts to-go.
Dough Boy Donuts

When one sweet store closes, another one opens. Dough Boy Donuts, known as “the only gourmet doughnut food truck in Texas,” will be opening its first storefront location at 4910 Camp Bowie Blvd., which was previously owned by Leah's Sweet Treats. No opening date is set yet, but customers should expect the same rotating flavors in the shop, including the Pistachio Lime and Strawberry Basil doughnut.
