Boulevard Scoops, the tiny River Oaks ice cream shop featured in our July issue, is relocating to a bigger building on the Jacksboro Highway next month.
“We literally ran out of room,” says owner Tina Winnett. “The space in River Oaks was great when we were just starting out but now that we have a following, we need more room.”
Now called Boulevard Scoops Eats & Treats, it will reopen Aug. 10 at 5426 Jacksboro Highway, in the building that originally occupied the Terra Bella Bakery. Most recently, it was home to Maverick Bar B Que.
The sweet treat shop specializes in ice cream, housemade cobblers, funnel cakes, Italian sodas, banana splits and unusual items such as ice cream nachos. Winnett says she's expanding the menu at the new location to include old-fashioned burgers, hot dogs and other malt shop staples.
“We want the menu to have a classic, soda shop-feel,” Winnett says.
