The South Hulen area is getting a little more caffeinated.
Love Local, a new coffee shop located at 4612 Southwest Loop 820, will host a soft opening Monday.
The menu consists of mostly drinks — espresso-based beverages, kombucha, hot and iced tea, and more experiential offerings like tea trays that let drinkers watch their loose-leaf tea brew. Love Local will also offer breakfast tacos, gluten-free pastries, and mini pies which will be delivered from other local shops.
Sara and Brandon Tucker, owners of Love Local, got their start with a nonprofit called Fort Worth Makers, which hosts the popular Fort Worth Makers Market. The retail portion of their shop is deliberately local, featuring art and other gifts from makers around the area.
“We spend a lot of time in local coffee shops, and our favorite things to do when we travel include visiting local art and coffee shops,” Sara Tucker says. “We really wanted the art to be a bigger part of the coffee shop, like 50% local gift and art and 50% coffee shop. Between the gift shop, the art, our food, and the other vendors, we have around 45 local small businesses that we represent here.”

The coffee shop was set to open in May but faced delays due to the pandemic. While the shop was in the middle of construction, coffee equipment from overseas was delayed, and many small businesses weren’t operational. Sara Tucker says they had a worst-case scenario in their business plan, but nothing prepared them for the world to shut down.
Still, she says they're glad to finally be opening to the public. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday but subject to change.
