Signature Mariachi tacos
Opening day is near for the popular taco joint that got its start at a gas station, now moving into a home of its own in the Camp Bowie district.
Mariachi's Dine-In has tentatively scheduled May 18 as the opening date of its West Side location at 5724 Locke Ave., according to owner Ashley Miller. The restaurant will open for dinner only through May 21, with its first full week starting May 25. From then, permanent hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Mariachi's will be moving forward without Chef Angel Fuentes, who has gone on to pursue another opportunity. Instead, chefs Kirby O'Brien and Louis Lopez, who trained under Fuentes, will be heading the cuisine.

Mariachi's Dine-In will serve both a regular menu and vegan menu mirroring the original.
Formerly housed at the back of a convenience store on South Sylvania Avenue, Mariachi's built a loyal following thanks to its authentic offerings and nearly identical vegan menu. Fans favorites include the signature Mariachi and birria tacos; the shop also serves burritos, tortas, aguas frescas, and desserts like a concha ice cream sandwich and spiked sorbets.
Mariachi's officially served its last taco out of the gas station location on May 1. When Mariachi's opens at Locke Avenue, the former home of FiVi's Kitchen, there will be much more legroom at 2,300 square feet.
