Celebrity chef Tim Love is putting out a call to all Fort Worthians to help families experiencing food insecurity this Thanksgiving. For nearly a decade, Love, along with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, has helped families in need with the “Shed Hunger Give Thanks," Thanksgiving food drive hosted at Woodshed Smokehouse.
Since its inception seven years ago, this food drive has ensured that over 4,000 North Texans had more than enough to eat on Thanksgiving Day.
Dare we call it a feast?
This pay-it-forward food drive happens when a six-person Thanksgiving meal is purchased at Woodshed Smokehouse at 3201 Riverfront Drive. For every Thanksgiving family meal sold, an identical meal will be donated to a local family facing food insecurity through the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Each individual Thanksgiving family-style order, which opens on November 1, has enough food to feed up to six people.
“Alleviating hunger across our 13-county service takes our entire community, especially during the holidays,” Julie Butner, president & CEO of Tarrant Area Food Bank says. “Thanks to Chef Tim Love and Woodshed Smokehouse, we are able to ensure working families who are facing hunger don't have to skip a meal for Thanksgiving.”
Over the past seven years, more than 600 families in Fort Worth have benefited from this food drive, according to a release. Each family-style meal comes with a Woodshed Smokehouse signature wood-fired smoked turkey, plenty of savory sides, and indulgent desserts.
Besides helping the less fortunate this holiday season, the Thanksgiving family meal is also a great way to cheat the cleanup and logistics of holiday meal planning. Why not let Woodshed Smokehouse do all the heavy lifting? After all, you can be at ease knowing your family – plus one – will be well fed this Thanksgiving.
"As a chef and a business owner, I'm always looking for ways to give back to the community that has supported me throughout my career," said Chef Tim Love. "The Shed Hunger Give Thanks Thanksgiving food drive is a small way we can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors during the holiday season. It's about coming together to celebrate, support, and share with those who need it most."
