WineHaus owners Robyn Davis and Dan Larrimore
WineHaus nearly closed for good this year due to COVID-19, but thanks to a couple of regulars who didn't want to lose their favorite happy hour spot, the Near Southside wine bar is officially back in business.
WineHaus reopens Monday under the leadership of new owners Robyn Davis and Dan Larrimore. They'll be taking the reins from previous owner, Lindsey Kohn, who first opened WineHaus in its two-story, 3,000-square-foot space at 1628 Park Place Ave. in 2013.
“We bought WineHaus out of our love for wine and the dream of owning our own wine bar one day," Davis said in a statement. "We have been loyal customers since the day it opened and even took our level 1 sommelier certification class there back in 2017, so it has always held a special place in our hearts. We have also always loved the warm and laid-back vibe of WineHaus, which makes it unique in Fort Worth. We are both members of the community and know that many of the community members have grown to love WineHaus over the years the way we have, and were very excited to be able to keep WineHaus as a local favorite for the patrons who have loved this warm location over the last seven years.”
With new ownership also come a few changes. Davis and Larrimore plan to add weekly jazz nights, as well as expand and remodel the outdoor patio to include a large-scale, impressionistic mural inspired by Monet’s "Water Lilies."
The new owners are also making adjustments due to COVID-19, reconfiguring the indoor space to create smaller group areas with more room in between tables for intimate guest seating. They're also limiting the total venue capacity.
As far as what's staying the same — Monica Wright will continue working behind the bar, and the monthly Rack & Riddle wine club will restart in December. WineHaus will also be offering private party space rentals in both the upstairs lounge (which can accommodate up to 70 people, depending on current health restrictions) and the outdoor patio (which can accommodate up to 35 guests).
“We are so excited to reopen and provide a safe environment during these crazy unprecedented times," Larrimore said in a statement. "Wine is our passion, and we are excited to offer the opportunity to share it with the community.”
Being the week of Thanksgiving, WineHaus will soft open with special holiday hours and resume normal operations starting Nov. 30. This week, the bar will be open Monday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., close for Thanksgiving, and open Friday and Saturday from 3:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Normal hours will be 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Mondays and 3:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Grand opening plans will be announced at a later date.
