Jonathan Morris, Michael Williams, Rusty Reid, and Brandom Gengelbach
Missing your fix of major business networking events in Fort Worth? Here are two virtual ones coming up on the calendar next week: the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting, to be held online; and a Q&A featuring the University of North Texas Health Science Center president, Michael Williams, and Higginbotham CEO Rusty Reid.
The Chamber’s 138th annual meeting is 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, online only. Theme is Fortitude, “signifying the city’s strength, resilience, and commitment to moving forward.” Keynote speaker is the Fort Worth entrepreneur Jonathan Morris, founder of Fort Worth Barber Shop; co-developer of the soon-to-open Hotel Dryce on the city’s West Side; and star of "Self-Employed," a show that will debut next year on the new Magnolia Network being launched by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Guest registration for the meeting is free at fortworthchamber.com or 817-336-2491.
It’ll be the first annual meeting for the newly promoted Chamber CEO Brandom Gengelbach. “Business leaders from all around the country continue to tell me how they feel hamstrung in high tax states,” Gengelbach said in a release. “While having a tax-friendly business environment certainly helps, we are seeing an unprecedented amount of growth in Fort Worth for a variety of reasons, including a cohesive, supportive government infrastructure, as well as an overwhelmingly affable environment, a career-ready talent pool, ample transportation opportunities, and a favorable cost of living.”
The UNT-Higginbotham Q&A will be live-streamed 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, and will feature an “eye-opening discussion about the COVID-19 crisis” between Williams and Reid. Williams, who has decades in critical care medicine, hospital administration and health care education, will “answer the questions on everyone's mind, like how infections and deaths are trending, the most effective testing methods and when to expect a vaccine.”
