Winfield Place
Winfield Place — a downtown building originally constructed in 1919 as Fort Worth's first parking garage — is up for sale.
Transwestern Real Estate Services is the exclusive sales agent for the building at 210 E. Eighth St., representing property owner Left Deep Left LP. At three stories and 33,064 square feet, the building has space for office and possibly ground-floor retail, says Transwestern Principal Kirk Kelly.
“The property is ideal for an investor or user that is looking for a plug-and-play office opportunity, and it is well-suited for a single or multiple tenants," Kelly said in a news release.
The building originally served as the parking garage for what was then the Winfield Hotel. (The hotel later changed its name to Hotel Texas; today, it's the Hilton Fort Worth). Over the years, the space has gone through nearly $7 million in renovations, the most recent taking place in 2016, when oil and gas company Purple Land Management moved into the building. The company worked with architect Michael Bennett to turn the space into a modern office. Among its most notable features — a former car lift transformed into an "elevator conference room" that can move between floors.
The renovations earned the building the 2017 Preservation Award by the Historic Fort Worth Association.
Purple is expected to vacate the building if sold and is currently looking for a new space. According to Mark Morrison, vice president of technology and innovation at Purple, "We have enjoyed our time in Winfield Place; however, the building's owner has chosen to put it up for sale. And, while we are currently searching for our new home, you can be assured that it will be in Fort Worth. Purple Land Management was founded here and remains committed to our community."
