Personally, one of my favorite activities is driving through Fairmount on a sunny day with my windows down and picturing myself living in one of the houses. Perhaps I'm a little envious of those who live in the neighborhood. It feels so peaceful and friendly every time I drive through. The character of each house is unique, avoiding the cookie-cutter look many neighborhoods fall into. The streets are quaint and quiet while each home has its own personality. These historic homes were made for touring.

You have the opportunity to experience Fort Worth's history because of Fairmount's efforts to restore and preserve its homes. Restoration and new construction help to preserve the character and quality of life of the neighborhood.

Mark your calendars for the 34th annual Tour of Historic Homes hosted by the Fairmount Historic District in the heart of Fort Worth. The event will be held from noon-6 p.m. May 7 - 8.
This event will welcome more than 1,500 visitors to the neighborhood to celebrate its architectural history.
1604 S. Adams St.
The tour will showcase five restored homes, a new build, a work in progress and a bonus property. Many of the historic homes in the area were built between 1890-1930 and feature architectural characteristics such as prominent wide front porches, beamed interior ceilings, colonnades and antique hardware. Properties featured this year are located on Alston Avenue, College Avenue, South Adams Street, Fairmount Avenue and 5th Avenue.
Attendees have the opportunity to enjoy a parade to kick off the event and eat at one of the popular restaurants along Magnolia Avenue.
Grammar-Pierce House
A Texas historic marker dedication will take place to celebrate the centennial year for the Grammar-Pierce house, which turned 100 years old in December 2015. The Grammar-Pierce house dedication will take place at 2 p.m. on May 7. The open house will last until 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served on the porch.

Tickets are $15 when purchased in advance online at www.historicfairmount.com. Tickets go up to $20 when purchased on the day of the event at the Welcome Pavilion. Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Fairmount Neighborhood Association and its mission to preserve and maintain the neighborhood and surrounding district.
Check-in and ticket pick-up will be located at SiNaCa Studios at 1013 W. Magnolia Avenue. T-shirts and posters from the event will be available for purchase.
