Leticia “Letty” Martinez is a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist and a partner at Varghese Summersett, a premier criminal defense firm based in downtown Fort Worth.
Letty has extensive experience handling serious and complex criminal cases, including allegations of sexual abuse, domestic violence and aggravated offenses. She is a seasoned trial attorney and has tried more than 100 cases before Texas juries ranging from misdemeanor to capital murder.
Prior to becoming a partner at Varghese Summersett, Letty served as a state prosecutor and Assistant United States Attorney. She served at the Tarrant County District Attorney's for more than two decades, working in almost every unit and division. She was tapped to lead the Crimes Against Children and Family Violence units and also served in the Gang and Juvenile sections.
In 2018, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick appointed Letty to the Child Fatality Review Team, which works to understand causes and incidents of child deaths, such as suicides, drug overdoses and distracted driving, and identifies procedures to prevent them.
During her legal career, Letty has specialized in criminal matters involving children. She has regularly been called upon to speak to other lawyers and law students on topics that include child sexual and physical abuse. She is also outspoken advocate for children with special needs.
