Tommy Brockermeyer is taking his talents to TCU.
TCU’s climb to the highest peak of college football this season appears to be having an immediate impact in the transfer portal.
Two former highly rated prospects have chosen to leave the mecca of college football for home.
JoJo Earle, a former Aledo standout wide receiver, and Tommy Brockermeyer, a five-star offensive tackle out of Fort Worth All Saints, have both announced they are leaving Alabama with plans to remain teammates as transfers to TCU.
Both Earle and Brockermeyer are penciled in — by me, at least — as immediate contributors for the Horned Frogs in 2023.
"I'm coming home!" Brockermeyer said on Twitter with a picture of him flashing the Frogs' knuckle-up hand sign.
Brockermeyer, whose father Blake Brockermeyer, an Arlington Heights grad who played nine seasons in the NFL with three teams, was rated among the top recruits in all of the country in the recruiting class of 2021. TCU was a much-speculated landing place for Brockermeyer, though some wondered whether Texas might be in play. Tommy’s father and older brother, Luke, both played there.
Brockermeyer and his twin brother James, also an offensive lineman, originally chose Alabama out of high school. James is staying with the Crimson Tide.
Tommy Brockermeyer, a redshirt freshman, saw little playing time at Alabama while dealing with injuries this season. At 6-foot-6, 304 pounds, analysts say he is good in both pass protection and in the run.
Earle, 5-10, 177, had 24 receptions and 303 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. Earle played in only five games this season after suffering a broken foot in preseason practice. He still managed 11 receptions and a touchdown.
The announcements coincide with the Frogs picking up transfer commitments this weekend. Florida cornerback Avery Helm and LSU wide receiver Jack Bech also said they were Fort Worth bound.
