The classic summer extravaganza that the Fort loves so much also holds a sentiment with Forbes, which included Rockin’ The River on the Trinity among its top eight water vacations, a list of eight “waterside escapes by lakes, rivers, and seas to beat the heat from,” ahem, “Maui to London.”
Rockin’ The River has been a thing since 2012, when the concept of tubing and listening to live music was crafted. It's a five-week music series that features 15 bands across the summer season at Panther City Pavillion. In its 11th year, Rockin’ The River gets high praise from the folks at Forbes.
“The summer-long Rockin’ The River music series is presented on a waterfront stage on the Trinity River. Concertgoers can enjoy the show from the shore or while relaxing, beer in hand, in an innertube in the water. Musical performances by country, rock and roll, and soul bands are held Saturdays from July to mid-August, with free admission and a $6 rental fee for innertubes. Each evening ends with a fireworks show overlooking the river and the city skyline.”
We would like to use this paragraph to personally invite Steve Forbes to float the Trinity while taking in the Dirty River Boys. We’ll even spring for the innertube.
The list doesn’t appear to be in any particular order, but Fort Worth is fifth, right below Club Med Québec, Biltmore Mayfair in London, Inns in Aurora, New York, and Deer Path Inn at Lake Forest, Illinois.
Rockin’ The River comes to an end this summer as it wraps up the music series on Thursday.
