More than 550 animals are being cared for at the main shelter, according to Fort Worth.
The City of Fort Worth Monday cautioned that the Fort Worth Animal Shelter could reach critical capacity soon due to the coronavirus public crisis. But there’s a way folks can help.
Locals who are willing to help during this crisis can complete an emergency foster application. The shelter’s team will follow up with the next steps.
“With many people staying close to home during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, adoptions at the Fort Worth Animal Shelter are certain to drop off, and the shelter will soon reach a critical capacity,” reads a news statement posted by the City of Fort Worth. “The ability to care for all of these pets is the shelter’s primary goal.”
More than 550 animals are being cared for at the main shelter, according to the city — there’s an immediate need for emergency foster homes and/or adopters, especially for large dogs and animals undergoing medical care.
The main shelter at 4900 Martin St. and both PetSmart Adoption Centers (4800 SW Loop 820 and 2901 Texas Sage Trail) are open during regular hours.
