Mayor Betsy Price makes a declaration of public health emergency due to COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Mandates to combat the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) continue to come from the City of Fort Worth, the latest of which came Wednesday in an official declaration of a public health emergency.
Effective Thursday, gatherings of more than 50 people in a single space at the same time are prohibited, with exceptions granted for separation on different floors, by walls, or partitions.
Dine-in services at restaurants, micro-breweries, micro-distilleries, and wineries are ordered to close, but take-out, drive-in, drive-through, or delivery services will be able to continue. Also closed by the declaration are bars, lounges, taverns, private clubs, theaters, gyms, and other amusement businesses.
Total occupancy will be limited to 125 people or 50% capacity on certificates of occupancy for the following venues:
- Event centers
- Hotel meeting spaces and ballrooms
- Retail sales and services
- Convenience stores
- Plazas
- Places of worship
- Common areas in malls
- Each individual business in malls
The occupancy limit does not apply to:
- Grocery stores
- Government facilities
- Residential buildings
- Medical facilities
- Daycares
- Homeless or emergency shelters
- Nonprofit service providers
- Airports or other critical infrastructure such as transit facilities
- Manufacturing and industrial locations
- Office buildings
