A fundraising initiative co-founded by a Fort Worth plastic surgeon and breast cancer survivor has garnered more than $345,000 to fight the life-threatening disease. Those behind the growing event hope to add to that figure.

Dr. Emily McLaughlin founded the event in 2016 with a few close friends. She says the event helps facilitate resources for breast cancer survivors navigating what she calls an “extremely complicated, exhausting process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.”
“BoobieQue was born from the desire to help others navigate the unknown,” McLaughlin said in a news release. “A plastic surgeon that does reconstruction having reconstruction is an anomaly. As the process unfolded, I was compelled to do something to try to make a difference for those experiencing what I did. Breast cancer lit a fire in me.”
A host of travel tickets will also be auctioned off at the festival. The auctions, both live and silent, will include two tickets and airfare to see "The Tonight Show" starring Jimmy Fallon in New York City; a Kentucky bourbon trail tour; two tickets to George Strait at the National Finals Rodeo; tickets to the Nationals Final Rodeo; and trips to exotic destinations, among others more.
The Texas Health Resources Mobile Health Unit will also be on-site the day of the event, offering screening mammograms for women who confirm appointments beforehand by calling 817-250-1910. Women who schedule and complete mammograms will be granted free admission to BoobieQue.
Adult tickets are $50, and $15 for anyone under 13. Included with ticket admission is Heim Barbecue and Rahr & Sons brews for those 21 and over.
