Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price has issued a statement in response to the violence occurring at the U.S. Capitol.
On Wednesday afternoon, supporters of President Donald Trump stormed into the U.S. Capitol to protest the results of the presidential election. They entered as Congress was confirming the victory of President-elect Joe Biden, prompting evacuation of the building and mobilization of the District of Columbia National Guard. An unidentified individual was also shot, according to AP News.
In response to the event, Price posted the following statement on her social media channels: “I am horrified by what is happening in our nation’s capital. It is devastating that our country has become this fractured. Violence is never the answer. It is my hope and prayer that cooler heads will prevail, and we will have a peaceful transition of power. Please pray for our nation.”
