Taekwondo National Championship
The Fort Worth Convention Center will play host to the 2024 USA Taekwondo National Championship ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024. The Fort Worth Sports Commission won the bid for the event, setting the dates for July 4-7, 2024.
The commission is a nonprofit organization coordinating sporting events in Panther City. The event hosts 1,300 athletes, and reports predict the championship will generate $3.2 million in revenue for the community.
If Team USA's recent success is any indication, the event will serve as a great opportunity to see some future Olympic medalists. Recently, Team USA TKD achieved a perfect 14 out of 14 score at the Pan Am Cadet and Junior Championships, winning them the gold medal. The team also won a record 26 medals during the World Poomsae Championships in Korea — blowing past last year's 21-medal count.
The Head of Team, Ron Southwick, concluded the tournament with a statement about the team's achievements, "For the last week I have had the best seat in the house here at the 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Goyang Korea. Aside from witnessing the phenomenal performances of our US National Poomsae Team, I watched the talented coaches, managers and liaisons, medical staff, and parents help create an environment of success for this wonderful team. From our humble beginnings in this sport, the United States has become a force to be reckoned with and has its sights set on becoming the number one team in the world."
