Gary Patterson and Leon Bridges, co-founders of the Big Good are partnering with The Rainwater Charitable Foundation, to maximize giving to three local nonprofit beneficiaries: The Tarrant To & Through Partnership (T3), United Community Centers (UCC), and UpSpire.
The Rainwater Foundation is helping The Big Good pinpoint new methods of bringing dollars back into the community by attracting new donors to the cause, by making a $500,000 commitment to the cause.
Since its inception in 1991, The Rainwater Charitable Foundation has served, and funded initiatives focused on educating children. Part of that grantmaking strategy has been investing in local nonprofits focused on boosting student and family outcomes for communities in Fort Worth.
“The Rainwater Foundation is honored to officially partner with The Big Good to support T3, UCC and UpSpire- three exemplary organizations that provide life-changing services in our community,” says Rainwater program manager Jay McCall.
The Big Good was established in May of 2020 when Leon Bridges teamed up with former TCU head coach Gary Patterson who ran a foundation with his namesake. Since then, The Big Good has worked with three local beneficiaries to reach various corners of the community, including adolescent educational enrichment, increasing opportunities for postsecondary pathways, and breaking down employment barriers due to homelessness.
In April of 2022, The Big Good hosted its inaugural fundraising event in Fort Worth, welcoming a host of community leaders, athletes, and philanthropist, including tennis legend Andy Roddick, Tony award winning actor Eric Nelsen, and Fort Worth local artist Abraham Alexander. This event laid the groundwork for what has become an annual fundraiser in Fort Worth, which raised over $1 million from the 2022 efforts alone.
In year 1, The Big Good proudly granted $250,000 to each beneficiary partner to apply to the advancement and growth of their programs. Through this new partnership with The Rainwater Foundation, The Big Good is seeking new donors both locally and outside of Fort Worth to get involved with its mission.
“This grant from Rainwater is allowing us to reach more people than ever before,” says The Big Good co-founder Kelsey Patterson. “We are growing, so to have this partnership and this support is invaluable to what we are trying to do in the community. Through this partnership, we hope to maximize people’s attention of charitable giving towards the causes they care about in the Fort Worth community.”
The Big Good just renewed their partnership with T3, UCC and UpSpire to continue maximizing the growth and advancement of their programs.
