We’re halfway through the hottest month of the year — at least according to National Weather Service climate data. But don’t let the heat keep you from having a good time. Here are a few events that’ll keep you cool — or, at the least, thoroughly entertained.
1. Dreamgirls Musical
Jubilee Theatre presents Dream Girls, one of the most successful and explosive musicals in American theater history. This rounds out Jubilee Theatre’s 41st season. Catch the cultural phenomenon Aug. 11 – 14.

2. Fort Worth Mimosa Fest
The Texas Republic presents Fort Worth’s Mimosa Fest this Sunday, Aug. 14. Everyone can enjoy their favorite brunch cocktail (unless that favorite brunch cocktail happens to be a bloody mary) alongside a live DJ and brunch menu. The event kicks things off at noon and lasts to 3 p.m.

3. Hunter Cox & The Big League Boys at Lola's
Lola’s Saloon is back with a new location and the return of live music to the stage. Hunter Cox & The Big League Boys, Yes Ma’am Band, and The Surfrajettes & VOLK will perform this weekend starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12.

4. Fort Worth Home and Garden Show
The second annual Fort Worth Fall Home and Garden Show returns to the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Pot and plot your next landscaping and home improvement projects with ideas from the city’s best. Admission is free and, in case you got the kiddos in tow, there will be family-friendly activities.

5. Rocket League World Championship
The championship of the popular virtual vehicular soccer videogame, Rocket League, is returning triumphantly and touching down at the Dickies Arena. The World Championship for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2021-22 Season will be the biggest RLCS live event yet. The World Championship, which was previously a three-day event, has morphed into an epic 10-day event split into two distinct phases that began Aug. 4 with doors opening at 10:00 a.m.
