COVID-19 is forcing the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show to make some changes. Don't worry; it's still happening — just drive-in style.
The annual event, scheduled for Oct. 17 – 18, will be North Texas’ first drive-in air show experience. A limited number of parking tickets will be available for purchase at allianceairshow.com in mid-September — it's first-come, first-served, and no tickets will be sold onsite.
During the event, the air show will have social distancing measures in place. Cars will be spaced out enough so guests can park, step out of their vehicles, and picnic. They'll still be able to enjoy the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and other performers, but there won't be any static displays, exhibitors, or kids' inflatables.
Guests are also required to wear masks for the entirety of the event.
Of course, anything can happen between now and October. Should local, state, federal, military, or FAA entities determine that the event cannot take place due to COVID-19, the show will refund tickets purchased in advance.
“The circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic provided the unique opportunity to be innovative in how to move forward with hosting the air show for the North Texas community,” said Christina Carey, director of special projects for Alliance Air Productions, the producer of the event and a nonprofit organization created by Hillwood. “Our newly reformatted event will be a memorable, fun, and socially distanced drive-in experience as we celebrate 30 years of soaring excellence.”
