Bass Performance Hall could be open again by spring.
Performing Arts Fort Worth, the nonprofit owner and operator of Bass Hall, announced Tuesday a tentative reopening plan that has the venue resuming performances starting March 2021.
The hall will remain closed through February. Then, in March, Bass Hall will allow limited on-stage streaming and recording opportunities but without audiences.
Between April and May, the venue plans to host select performances with a capacity of up to 100 ticketed patrons with general admission. Seating will also be socially distanced.
Plans for June and beyond will be announced at a later date, with 2021 – 2022 season planning moving forward as scheduled.
Of course, the whole plan is subject to change based on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As the owner and operator, we have a social responsibility to be a community partner in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and flattening the curve of this pandemic,” Dione Kennedy, president and CEO of Performing Arts Fort Worth, Inc., said in a statement. “Additionally, we have a personal responsibility to protect the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, patrons and tenants. We look forward to working with our resident companies and other local organizations as we work toward limited capacity performances in the second quarter of 2021.”
In addition to the reopening plan, Performing Arts Fort Worth also announced a couple more cancellations — the Broadway at the Bass engagement of Jimmy Buffett’s "Escape to Margaritaville," previously scheduled for April 6 – 11, and the Suzy Bogguss performance at McDavid Studio, previously scheduled for May 15, 2021.
