Big Tex State Fair
Dallas- The State Fair of Texas is back! Kicking off next Friday, Sept. 30, and running through Sunday, Oct. 23, with the theme 'treats of Texas.'
The staple attractions are returning, but with some new exciting things to check out.
The Kroger Starlight Parade is adding new floats to its nightly procession. Attendees can catch the spectacle making its way through the fair any of the 24 nights.
During the day, families can enjoy the Allez-Oops show, a circus-like performance where a married couple, Rob and Miss Jane, entertain with silly hijinx at the Oak Farms Theater.
Also, for kids, Oontz Kids DJ Dance Party is making its fair debut at Howdy's near the Children's Aquarium. Children can dance and sing as young DJs perform from DFW's DJ school.
Big Tex, the 55-foot statue beloved by attendees, is getting a makeover with Fort Worth-based clothing brand Dickie's designing him a new outfit. Dickie's has dressed Big Tex for 20 years, giving him new clothes whenever the weather deteriorates his current ones. This year, Tex is wearing a blue shirt with a red pointed collar and jeans. Tex's wardrobe update comes just in time for his 70th Birthday.
Returning events include the fan-favorite dog show, the All-Star Stunt Dog Show, Strongman Mighty Mike, and the Soar! bird show at the Ferris wheel.
The lineup for food and music can be found at the fair's website bigtex.com and tickets are also available online but can be purchased at the door.
