It’s been a hot minute since the late 90s early 2000s hard rock band Creed were on the road touring. In fact, the last time anyone heard tale of Creed was during the band’s last tour in 2012, which ended with the group going their separate ways.
Made up of vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips, and bassist Brian Marshall, the group seemed destined to go down as a has been group of yesteryear. However, thanks in part to the Texas Rangers jamming one of their biggest hits “Higher” during the team’s 2023 World Series run, this once maligned band has come back into the chic. So much so, that since the Rangers’ named dropped the band, its streams have jumped up a whopping 175 % on Spotify as reported by Texas Monthly.
The band, enamored with its recent rise in notoriety, even showed up to game three of the World Series to lead a crowd-sourced sing along of their 1999 hit “Higher” in the stands. Staying up with this recent resurgence in popularity, Creed announced it would be embarking on a national tour, which originally only consisted of one DFW stop in Dallas. However, it seems the demand to see this classic rock quartet was more than Creed’s management and the band had anticipated. Thus, to appease the demand of the masses, Creed has added 20 more tour dates to their upcoming “Are You Ready?” tour, which includes a show at Dickies Arena on November 13.
Joining the veteran rockers on this tour are a few bands that had hits from the same era that Creed encompassed. The new tour dates include “Kryptonite” rockers 3 Doors Down, Mammoth WVH, and Finger Eleven. Other bands listed on the tour bill include Tonic, Switchfoot, Big Wreck, and Daughtry. Wow, what a nostalgic lineup. But don’t wait too long to get your tickets, this tour is sure to scratch a musical itch not felt by the 90s youth in years. It just might be the catharis some of us need to relive the "old days" as we pass this musical anomaly on to yet another generation of sing-along music lovers.
