Two genre-defining musical acts are prepping to hit the road together this summer, which includes a stop in Cowtown. The incomparable Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana will join forces with the Grammy and Academy Award-nominated Counting Crows for the upcoming Oneness Tour.
These two veteran rock acts are schedule to co-headline 29 shows that span the length of North America, which includes a show at Dickies Arena on August 15. Beside his over five decades of hits, Santana will perform songs from his 1999 15x platinum album “Supernatural”, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Counting Crows, who are returning to the road following three successful world tours, will also be playing the hits along with music from their most recent EP, 2021’s “Butter Miracle, Suite One”.
The “Oneness Tour” kicks off on June 14 in Hollywood, Florida, and will run through Sept. 2, when the tour wraps up in Phoenix.This road worthy soiree, marks the fourth time this duo of artists toured together since the early 2000s.
Santana, whose band was named after the storied guitarist, rose to prominence in the mid to late 60s after performing a blistering set of songs at the iconic and original Woodstock in 1969. Before the band’s stint on this legendary stage, Santana made a name for itself as a San Francisco-based groundbreaking Afro-Latin-blues-rock fusion outfit. Santana’s popularity resurfaced with the aforementioned release of 1999s “Supernatural”. Most recently, a feature documentary titled “Carlos”, directed by Rudy Valdez and produced by Imagine Documentaries and Sony Music Entertainment celebrating the music icon’s life and career, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and was released worldwide.
Counting Crows’ fame came in the early 90s with the band’s seminal 1993 debut album, “August and Everything After”, which garnered such hits as “Mr. Jones”, “Round Here”, and “Rain King”. The band has gone on to release seven studio albums, selling more than 20 million records worldwide, and is revered as one of the world's most pre-eminent live touring rock bands, according to a release.
