Downtown’s Worthington Renaissance is taking entertainment to another level (literally) with Rooftop Cinema Club, an open-air movie-going experience that is expanding to Fort Worth in October.
Last year, Rooftop Cinema Club held a successful drive-in summer movie series in Dallas that laid the groundwork for a permanent set — except in Fort Worth, which is where we agree. The Worthington will repurpose its former sport court on the outdoor mezzanine deck, The Terrace, into a permanent outdoor theater. Opening night is Tuesday, Oct. 4 and tickets will go on sale in early September. You can sign up for email updates here.
“After our successful drive-in and summer series in Dallas last year, we longed to find a permanent home for our flagship rooftop experience in North Texas,” Rooftop Cinema Club Founder, Gerry Cottle, says. “I’m enthusiastic we have found the ideal rooftop in downtown Fort Worth and that locals and visitors will enjoy this cinematic experience, whether for a fun night with friends and family or a date night. We are so proud to be part of this city which marks the entrance to the modern West, home to many film stars and one that has inspired countless stories depicted in film.”

Attempting to bring “social to cinema,” the brand started in 2011 on a single London rooftop and has since expanded to the rooftops of Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and three other major metropolitan areas.
“This is a tremendous, history-in-the-making partnership to bring even more quality entertainment to the heart of downtown Fort Worth,” general manager of Worthington Renaissance, Drew Hayden, says. “Rooftop Cinema Club offers a curated movie-viewing and social experience, which — combined with our hotel’s central location, amazing panoramic views of our city’s landmarks, and our award-winning food and beverage offerings — is a win-win for visitors and locals alike.”
Similar to a drive-in, guests will receive wireless headphones to enjoy the film. The state-of-the-art LED screen and hand-picked classics, cult films, and recent releases will give patrons an array of content to choose from. In addition to the movies, there will be lawn games, food and beverage options, and, naturally, plenty of skyline views.
Rooftop Cinema Club will announce the seasonal schedule once tickets go live in early September.
