What would you say if I told you a dishwasher from a local Fort Worth steakhouse is set to become the next big soul music sensation? Sounds like a script out of Hollywood right? Look no further than Leon Bridges. The Fort Worth native began his musical career learning a few chords to go along with some lyrics he had been writing while working as a dishwasher at Del Frisco's Steakhouse. Bridges performed at open-mic events across Panther City night after night until Columbia Records came across his simple yet powerful gospel style and signed him in December 2014.
His song, Coming Home, has received regular airplay on local and national radio stations and has been one of the Top 10 Most Viral Tracks on Spotify. He performed at SXSW in Jan. 30 to standing ovations. Bridges has also gotten a taste of the late-night TV scene by performing his song Better Man on CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden. On April 18, he paid tribute to The “5” Royales by performing the group’s song Dedicated To The One I Love at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also booked to perform on Saturday Night Live in the next two months.

Leon Bridges is currently on a mission to bring back the soul to the gospel music scene with his ’60s sound. Bridges is currently on his first national tour playing venues from Texas to New York. His debut album, Coming Home, will be available June 23 on Columbia Records.
